Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

The fragment preserves lists of offerings related to various festivals for the Storm god and Ḫebat of Aleppo, provided by the personnel of the Palace of Aleppo (see commentary to line 6′). This palace will have been the residence of the viceroy of Aleppo at Ḫattuša, analogous to the “Palace of Karkamiš,” on which see commentary on KUB 48.113 i 4′-5′.

6′: Like in lines 3′ and 11′, the reference must be to the “personnel of the Palace of Aleppo,” thus with a very understandable scribal mistake, not to the “men of Aleppo” (as assumed e.g. in Schwemer 2001: 497-98 fn. 4075 and Miller 2004: 523 fn. 965).

7′ On the festival of thunder for the Storm god of Aleppo see Schwemer 2001: 497 with fn. 4075.

10′: PÚ-TI corresponds to Akkadian BŪRTI (with Groddek 2004b: 147 with fn. 1).
